Heart of Midlothian

Hearts was founded in the 19th century (1874) and has played a central role in the lives of generations of supporters, bringing a unique mix of social, sporting and community heritage. Located in one of Edinburgh’s most challenged communities, characterised by significant socio-economic deprivation, the Club is a focal point for community support and plays a crucial factor in developing a sense of positive place pride and in the creation and continuation of local memory.

Since 2016, a dedicated Heritage Department was formed within the Club, committed to making the most of its wonderfully rich sporting and social history, through safeguarding the collection and developing engagement opportunities around its wide array of heritage assets. Extensive items of memorabilia, archival material, photography and artwork, architectural and industrial heritage all tell the story of the Club’s history.
