The R&A World Golf Museum collection tells the story of over 400 years of golf’s history. It is the most comprehensive golf collection in Britain and one of the finest worldwide, celebrating the game from grassroots to international level.

Our collections

Collections cover the development of equipment (clubs, balls, manufacturing and clothing), prizes (trophies and medals), decorative art (art works, ceramics, silverware and ephemera), film, photographs and archives (books, periodicals, programmes and patents). Object and archive collections are enhanced by unique loan collections, such as those of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and The Women Golfers’ Museum. The entire collection is a Recognised Collection of National Significance, formally acknowledged by Museums Galleries Scotland as being of great importance to the life and culture of Scotland, and internationally significant.

The Museum provides an enquiry service for the public and researchers; access to the collections for study is also available by appointment.

Discounted entry rates are available for groups, which can be booked in advance or on the day.

Coach drivers and organisers receive free entry to the museum with their group with a coach drop off point adjacent to the museum. Pre-booking is preferable, but not necessary.

Curator-guided tours are available on request.
