Bexley Local Studies and Archives

The Bexley Local Studies and Archive Centre holds a number of important sporting archives as well as a great deal of material in the pamphlet and photographic collections. The archives include the records of Bexley Athletic Club, Bakers’ Sports Club Cricket Club, Crayford, Erith Yacht Club, Old Erithians Rugby Club, Sidcup Rugby Club and the Thames Road Cycling Club. We also hold the Sam Bartram Collection which includes newspaper cuttings, photographs and ephemera of Sam Bartram and Charlton Athletic Football Club dating from 1934 to 1981.

The pamphlet collection includes material such as handbooks and programmes for various local football clubs such as Erith & Belvedere Football Club, Bexley United Football Club and Bexleyheath & Welling Football Club. The photographic collections cover a very wide range of sporting activity in the borough and contain images from the Kentish Times sports reports.
