Podcast - 90 Minutes of Freedom

’90 Minutes of Freedom’ is a brand new book by criminal justice researcher Jamie Grundy, who spent the whole 2018-19 football season with Wales’s only prison football team, HMP Prescoed FC. The book explores the role of sport and football in the prison system more generally and what it means to the team’s players who are all serving prisoners at HMP Prescoed, a category D open prison in Monmouthshire, south Wales.

The book and research were supported by our National Sporting Heritage Day Community Grant in 2018, awarded in partnership with Art Fund.

Russell Todd hosts the podcast, that was recorded on site at HMP Prescoed, and is joined by Jamie, HMP Prescoed’s Head of Reducing Re-offending, Dai West, and ‘John’ a serving prisoner and captain of Prescoed FC.
