West Yorkshire Archive Service
The West Yorkshire Archive Service collects and looks after the unique documentary heritage of the region and helps members of the public use and enjoy these records. The Service has offices in Wakefield, Bradford, Calderdale (Halifax), Kirklees (Huddersfield), and Leeds.
Cock Fighting, Greyhound Racing, Football, Women’s Wrestling, Cricket, Bowling and Table Tennis are just some of the sports represented in a collection that tells the story of West Yorkshire’s sporting heroes. Our sporting collections start in 1738 and new material continues to be deposited with us. The material includes official records from regional and district organisations; photographs and subscriptions from local sports clubs; the diaries and personal records of sportsmen, sportswomen, coaches and supporters as well as records from sporting venues and local facilities. For more details of the collections we hold visit the archive service website, to make an appointment to view the material, or if you have material you would like to deposit with us, please contact the offices direct: Wakefield, Bradford, Calderdale (Halifax), Kirklees (Huddersfield), and Leeds, for more information visit our website.
