The Royal Welsh Museum

Given the British Army has always valued sport as being critically important to the morale, welfare and operational effectiveness of Army personnel, it is fitting that The Royal Welsh Museum has such strong sporting collections.

Pre-eminent among these are, fittingly for Wales’ national regiments, those relating to rugby and the exploits of the Royal Welsh’s antecedent regiments, the South Wales Borderers and the Welch Regiment. Jerseys, trophies, rugby balls, caps and photographs all form part of the Museum’s permanent collection, as do a number of sporting medals. Other sports are also represented including boxing, cricket, football, athletics, hockey and polo.
