Community Archives and Heritage Scotland - Survey
A new regional group of ARA UK & Ireland’s Specialist Section, Community Archives and Heritage Group (CAHG) is being created: ‘Community Archives and Heritage Groups – Scotland’.
It is one of two new regional CAHG groups, the other is based in the South West of England. The first two years will be a pilot phase and if successful will continue to receive funding and be a template for other regional groups to form across the UK and Ireland. We have a small budget for events, training and travel which will be managed through CAHG.
The need for a separate Scotland group came about after the very successful annual CAHG Conference 2019 in Glasgow, combined with the enthusiastic response of local groups to the SCA/NRS Archive Tour of Scotland. However, we welcome and encourage people from everywhere to join our network. Ultimately, we want to create a community archives and heritage group network of mutual support where professionals and volunteers come together and share skills and knowledge. To understand better and progress with a training and events programme for 20/21 – as well as extend a hand of support, especially during Covid-19 – we have produced a community archives survey. We would be delighted if you would complete the survey and distribute it through your own networks and social media channels.
