New partnership to keep even more sporting stories alive

Sporting Heritage and sports event company, The Events Room have joined forces with a new partnership to share legendary sporting stories and collections through a series of events and fundraising.

The partnership launch will be celebrated at a special event with rugby legend, Sir Gareth Edwards CBE taking place in February 2022.

Founding Director of Sporting Heritage CIC, Justine Reilly said:

Our whole aim is around helping keep sporting stories alive across the four nations, in our communities, schools, sports groups and museums. We love what The Events Room have done in creating memorable, enjoyable events for members of the public to meet and hear from some of sports greatest names share their amazing memories. This partnership offers a brilliant opportunity for us to share our aims and work with lots more people and is perfect timing as we gear up to celebrate National Sporting Heritage Day this month, on 30th September.

The partnership will see both organisations working together to share their work, projects of interest to their members and audiences, along with helping raise funds to help contribute to the ongoing work of the social enterprise to promote, share and celebrate sporting heritage.

Mark Shepherd, Co-Founder of The Events Room adds:

When we heard about Sporting Heritage and what they were doing we immediately knew we shared synergies around bringing sporting heritage to life. We wanted to support their work and bring it to a wider audience as we all have an important part to play in keeping our sporting stories and collections alive.

Rugby legend, Sir Gareth who played for Wales and the British & Irish Lions during the 60s and 70s said:

Sporting Heritage plays such an important part in all our lives. From being a young boy going to matches with my father, to listening to my grandfather tell tales of when he used to play and also creating my own memories and sharing them with others – there’s so much to learn from and enjoy.
