Sporting Heritage receive HLF funding!

Heritage Lottery Fund

Sporting Heritage are excited to announce our recent successful application to the Heritage Lottery Fund’s (HLF) Resilience strand! Our project is all about creating the infrastructure to ensure that the sporting heritage sector has a sustainable, resourceful and strategic umbrella organisation. We will be ensuring that our governance, financial systems, business and funding plans are fit-for-purpose, enabling us to build our capacity and support in the long-term for many different organisations and individuals.

Ultimately, our project will allow us to ensure heritage is better managed and cared for, that more and different audiences have access to that heritage, and that a range of relevant and diverse sporting heritage stories can be told. Sporting Heritage is hugely grateful to this support from the HLF and the valued support of National Lottery players without whom the development of this project, and the greater preservation and access to sporting heritage, would not be possible.

Our project will begin in November 2017 and be completed by September 2018.

Editorial notes:

Sporting Heritage is a not for profit community interest company working to support the collection, preservation, access and research of sporting heritage collections in the UK and wider. Sporting heritage collections include a wide variety of objects, archives, and stories and are held in museums, archives, sports clubs, governing bodies, community groups and by individuals. We manage a range of networking activities for the sector funded by Arts Council England, a research programme funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council in partnership with the National Football Museum, and set up nad deliver the National Sporting Heritage Day on the 30th September annually.
