The Sporting Heritage of Disability and Women's Sports

Over three years, Sporting Heritage worked with small and medium sized National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBS) and the clubs they represent. The project helped us develop a greater understanding of the collections which relate to sport and there was a particular emphasis on women’s sport and disability sport.

Funded by Sport England, the project allowed us to create a digital toolkit which will provide high-quality, easy to access heritage advice and guidance, establish networks and partnerships, and share and celebrate the stories of this sporting heritage widely.

It will allow us to empower the NGBS and sport clubs themselves to become the custodians and specialists of their own heritage long after the project has been completed.
