Football History Group Helps Club Celebrate 140th Anniversary
140 years after the formation of the Black Arabs, (later to become Bristol Rovers Football Club), the Bristol Rovers History Group put on a celebration of club memorabilia from the earliest days to that of the team of 2023. Hundreds of interested supporters saw an exhibition of kits across the ages, photos and programmes and were even able to purchase a framed copy of the 1883 team.
A relative of the club’s first chairman bought along a presentation bowl dedicated to him by the club. Also on display was the Watney Cup won by Bristol Rovers in 1972 with supporters able to have their photo taken holding this wonderful trophy. All in all a wonderful exhibition that many will cherish forever as part of the 140th anniversary.
