Alan Rees

Alan Rees has been a Documentation Assistant for the Marylebone Cricket Club based at Lord’s Cricket Ground since 2012. His main responsibilities are cataloguing the club’s archive, assisting researchers, and answering enquiries. He also has work experience as a self-employed archivist, and working for the British Council.

Before working at Lord’s, his academic career revolved around sport history. As part of his BA in History his special subject was Sport and the British, looking at the relationship between sport and British culture; his dissertation centred on looking at how the amateur/professional divide represented the wider class system. For the dissertation as part of his MSc in Information Management and Preservation he looked how the records produced around the 2012 London Games were to be archived.

He hopes to bring together a wide range of clubs and organisations in London, help promote sporting heritage and enable the sharing of knowledge and experience.
