What a day – the weather held off after the week long down pours and hurricanes, as if a higher force was at play, allowing us to hear for one last time this year, the sound of leather on willow and the odd cry of “Howzat” at Eye & District Cricket Club over the weekend of the 28th/29th September.

The club held a re-union game as part of National Sporting Heritage Day, celebrating the club and its past glory years with the community. We had a great turn out from old and young alike as well as many new faces.  While Eye put up some resistance to the impressive Diss Bowling and being ever so slightly biased towards Eye, let’s just say “Cricket was the winner on this day (not Diss).”

Huge thanks to all those that helped arrange it, attended and played in such great spirits. Thanks to ArtFund and the Sporting Heritage CIC team that enabled a small rural cricket club to sign off 2019 in such a fun and celebratory way, that leaves us energised and already planning a great 2020. The juniors also wanted to extend their thanks for a great day.
