Dame Sarah Storey DBE - #yoursportingstory
Sporting Heritage CIC

Ahead of her appearance as keynote speaker at the 2020 Sporting Heritage Conference (#SportingHeritage20) on October 22nd, Great Britain’s most successful Female Paralympian, Dame Sarah Storey DBE joins the podcast to discuss her own sporting heritage, treasured memories and considers the importance of celebrating the achievements and all too often hidden histories of disability and women’s sport’s, and how these inspirational stories can have a broader impact on equality in society.

Having participated in her first Paralympics in 1992 and due to compete in her eighth games in Tokyo 2021, while also achieving great success beyond para sport; including representing Great Britain in World Cup pursuit teams and England at the Commonwealth Games, Dame Sarah offers a unique perspective on how sporting heritage is regarded across disabled and able-bodied sport, and the vital role it can play beyond competition. A theme, which is central to our own Sport England funded project.
