Damian Clayton, MBE - The Fight for Rugby League in the RAF
Squadron Leader, Damian Clayton joins Russell Todd and Julia Lee to discuss how rugby league became an officially recognised sport within the Royal Air Force.

Ahead of Armed Forces Day celebrations in 2021, in the final episode of the Sporting Heritage of the Armed Forces project, Sporting Heritage Ambassador and Squadron Leader, Damian Clayton MBE joined Russell Todd and Julia Lee to explain how he successfully established rugby league as an officially recognised sport within the Royal Air Force; a campaign that was also simultaneously taking place in the army and navy in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Damian also illustrates how sport can play an important role in international diplomacy.
