Formal programme for schools
From Our Toolkit
All state maintained schools are required to deliver the curriculum. By looking at the programmes of study and attainment targets you will get a good idea of what each nation’s curriculum covers.
Education across the home nations
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own governments and education is a devolved responsibility.
Onsite delivery
Activities delivered at your organisation are a great way to engage with schools. For examples of what other organisations deliver have a look at GEM’s Case Study Museums and Schools Working Together and their other Case studies. These provide a wealth of ideas of developing and delivering sessions for schools.
Outreach
Many heritage organisations deliver outreach activities for schools, this can include off site delivery, loans boxes and remote learning activities:
- GEM’s Case Studies on Remote Learning
- Heritage Resources’s Portal Artefact Handlings Kits
- Information about setting up a resource box in SHARE Museum East’s Development Learning Programmes in Museums
