Organisational review
From Our Toolkit
As part of the governing body’s annual work programme it would be best practice to build in time to review how your group is operating.
An organisational or governance review can look at one, many or all aspects of the organisation to ensure that is operating effectively. A review of how you operate might also be prompted by changes in the law, changes in your organisation or as part of planning a project or funding application.
Regular review schedule
It is recommended that organisations undertake some form of internal review each year or every 3-5 years if they wish to carry out a review with external support. The National Council for Voluntary Organisations outlines clearly how and why organisations should carry out a governance review. They also provide a toolkit for the appraisal of boards.
