Writing a Collections care and conservation plan
From Our Toolkit
Once you are confident with your collections care and conservation procedures it is best practice to draw together all of you processes in a plan. This can then be shared with other members of your team to ensure that there is a consistency in approach to your collections care activity.
A Collections Care and Conservation Plan is also a useful document to share with other members of your organisation to demonstrate the level of need as well as the potential investment of time and resources required to maintain a heritage collection.
The South West Museums Federation have drawn up a Collections Care and Conservation Plan template which can be adpated for any heritage organisation.
