Writing a Collections care & conservation policy
From Our Toolkit
Once you have your collections care procedures in place it is best practice to record who is responsible for this activity and the parameters within which collections care work will be undertaken. This can be done in a Collections Care and Conservation Policy.
South West Museums Federation have produced a Collections Care and Conservation Policy template which can be adapted by any heritage organisation for suit their needs.
Writing a Collection Care and Conservation policy is a required for any heritage organisation working towards either the Museum or Archive Accreditation standard. For museums it also meets the required Spectrum guidelines.
