Finding the right mentor

To find the right mentor, you first need to assess the areas of support needed.

It is very important to understand the areas you need support in, firstly to ensure you find the right mentee, and secondly, to ensure you get the most out of the partnership. The following form acts as guidance to assessing your current skills, knowledge and experience gaps and can be used as an ongoing professional development tool throughout your career.

Mentee skills

Once you’ve completed the form, you will be able to assess which skills, knowledge, or understanding you need in a mentor. Finding a mentor can be difficult though. You can either choose to approach someone you think has the relevant skills, knowledge or experience to support your development, or you can join a mentoring network scheme.
