Museums Accreditation Scheme
The Accreditation scheme is managed by Arts Council England and sets out the national standards expected. There are regional accreditation advisers in place to support applicants move through the Accreditation process. The main benefits of Accreditation are a raising of standards and the a stronger ability to acquire additional funding.
Archive Accreditation Standards
Developed by the National Archives, the standards support organisations with archival collections conserve, manage, and provide access to collections.
The Association of Independent Museums (AIM)
AIM provide a wide variety of support for independent museums for free access on their website. Their “Success Guides” series is extremely useful and accessible.
Community Archives Scheme
Developed by the West Yorkshire Archives Service with funding from HLF, the Community Archive Scheme aims to support non-heritage venues and organisations collect, preserve, and provide access to their collections. The scheme is easy to use and provides useful information on almost anything connected with community collections.
